Colin Powell Academy for Success

Colin L. Powell Academy opened its beautiful campus on September 1999 to approximately 1000 enthusiastic Kindergarten through 8th grade students.  The school, located in North Long Beach, was the first new school in the community in 46 years.  Named for a great American, the Academy was designed to meet the education challenges of the 21st century.

Colin Powell has lush, grassy knolls, an outdoor amphitheater and a state of the art gymnasium, two new Common Core PC Computer Labs, an Apple iMac Computer Lab, and a music room.  The two-story portable construction was the first of its kind in the state of California, completely constructed and operational within eight months.  The Colin Powell Academy offers programs and resources to meet the needs of all students.

Since the time of our opening, we have grown to a campus of approximately 1100 students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade.  We follow a traditional school calendar.  Each year, we challenge our students in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, physical education, and music.  We look forward to continuing to meet the needs of our diverse community in the upcoming years.

The Colin L. Powell Academy staff has dedicated itself to the relentless pursuit of success for all students, faculty, and families -- our community of learners.
